This will be my final update on my Run. It's been one year since I first "announced" my plan. It seems to have gone by fast. Thanks for "listening" as I shared my runs and races to get ready, and for the support you have provided.
I will start exactly 4 weeks from today.
I have one more "training weekend" coming up. I plan to run 20-25 miles on Sat and Sun the weekend of 24-25 July. After that all I need to do is rest my legs.
10 of you have ordered T-shirts (40 shirts altogether). I will be placing the order tomorrow, and expect to pick them up by the 19th. I will get them in the mail soon thereafter.
I have raised over $2400 for PanCan so far. Thanks to those of you have donated. My goal remains $10,000.
Only one person asked me to run in memory of someone. Guess that was not a great idea.
Here is "the plan:"
My wife Terri, my daughter Rebecca, and I, accompanied by Margie (Roberts) Western and her husband, will depart Milwaukee and go to the start (Riverfront Park) on the Mississippi River in La Crosse on the morning of 8 August. At noon I will start my run accompanied by Rebecca.
On Monday, Rebecca will run with me again until noon, when she and Terri will head back to Milwaukee. Dale Trudell will join me for 20 miles during the day. Margie will drive a vehicle behind.
On Tuesday, a college friend will run with me most of the day. Margie will again drive behind.
Mid-afternoon Wednesday Karen (Mortier) Mayer will "take over" from Margie driving a vehicle begind me. Margie and her husband will head back home.
Thursday, Joe Theisen will bike along with me while Karen drives behind. I will stay at Joe's house Thursday night.
Friday, I will run alone to Shawano with Karen driving behind. I will stay at Kathie (Allen) Taylor's house Friday night.
Saturday, I will run alone to Oconto Falls with Karen behind. I still need a place to stay in/near Oconto Falls. Still hoping one of you will volunteer.
Hopefully, "we" will "party" Saturday night somewhere in Oconto Falls. I could use help arranging it if there is enough interest.
Sunday, I will finish up the run to Oconto, celebrate again, rest/recover and head back to Milwaukee for the night. I will be staying with my wife's brother, and then fly back Monday (16 August).
I hope to see some of you at the finish! If you wish to get any more e-mails about my running in the future send me a note. Otherwise, thanks again for coming along on my "training journey."
